Or maybe you fell off the tracks for a couple of years and the side effects of unproductivity, demotivation, and consistent low energy levels are overpowering your life!
Whatever the case may be I want to be the first to congratulate you on making the choice to prioritize your wellbeing and adopt a few good habits to keep you healthy and happy now and well into your future:)
I’m here to share with you 7 healthy habits that have boosted my energy, focus, motivation, health, and overall happiness in my day to day.
Before we start to uncover the healthy habits to embrace in your life I want you to remember these 3 things:
Be Patient- it will take time to get into routine. Give yourself grace!!
Start small- don’t make drastic changes. Instead, slowly ease into it.
Stay consistent- make a commitment to yourself and master showing up

1. Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate
I definitely feel like this particular habit falls through the cracks A LOT in our busy day-to-day lives and we don’t REALLYYYY notice how much not drinking an adequate amount of water daily affect our mood and energy.
And I can definitely attest to that!
It’s important to note that our body is made up of 60% water meaning we DEFINITELY have to stay hydrated.
We naturally during our day-to-day activities lose water through digestion, sweat, and just by breathing!
Without the proper hydration, our mind and body start to SLACK meaning we are not able to focus, have no energy, and/or in the long term may cause kidney stones.
In addition to us feeling hydrated in our day, it is also crucial for our GLOWING skin.
It is recommended to drink 7 to 8 glasses of water per day.
I recommend getting a water bottle tracker to help you hit that goal of 7 to 8 glasses per day!
2. Exercise
Another healthy habit that is a MUST for our overall physical and mental health is to get your heart racing in some way DAILY.
It is also important to include weight lifting once or twice a week for good bone health in the future.
There are several FUN ways you can do this!
Of course, a gym is the best place to go but you can start with simple activities you enjoy such as bike riding, yoga, zumba, swimming, etc.
I started with my yoga mat in my living room.
Master showing up every day even if it’s just for 10 minutes…yes, it sounds silly but best believe that progress will follow.
A super plus to exercising is the fact that it realeses happy chemicals such as seratonin, dopamine, and neurotransmitters called endorphins.
If you ever feel stressed, depressed, low on energy, or just tired of everything that life throws at you then this habit will be your best friend- it sure is mine!
3. Eat a balanced meal
What we feed our body and mind plays a HUGE role in how we feel throughout the day.
Think about the last time you ate a cheeseburger or a chocolate cake- how did you feel afterward?
Maybe like sleeping, a little bloating, or several trips to the restroom…
Unfortunately, although the smell and the commercials make it look DELICIOUS it does not remove the simple fact that the ingredients in high processed foods and sweets do not help our digestion, energy, or overall long-term health.
And this is why we have cheat days lol
Rule of thumb is to divide your meals to include 50% vegetables(or 25% veggies and 25% fruit), 25% protein-rich foods, and 25% carbohydrates.
These foods provide nutrients which in other words is the FUEL for our body.
This fuel includes antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber to keep our body and mind functioning TOP TIER now and well into our 60s..
4. Practice mindfulness
We all live a busy life meaning we are constantly reacting to what is getting thrown our way.
Your boss wanting you to come in earlier or stay later to cover a shift, bills piling up, living with depression or anxiety, etc.
It often becomes overlooked that our brain is on constant GO- MODE.
This brings us to the superpower of mindfulness.
Now many people- including myself- when we think of mindfulness the first thought is “boring” and many who say that have not even given it a try!
Once I gave meditation and journaling a try by adding it into my routine I saw a HUGE difference in my mood and focus.
Mindfulness allows you to find internal peace, self -awareness, mental clarity, happiness, and focus on the present.
By setting this time to be at peace you will become aware of things you didn’t even know were draining your energy to then start making the necessary changes.
5. Quality Sleep
From very young we have been told ” go to sleep early, you need your rest” and as we get older we instead tell ourselves ” i’ll be fine with 6 hrs of sleep, i’ll rest another day, one more episode won’t hurt”
It’s ESSENTIAL for you to get your 7-8 hrs of sleep not only to have energy and focus the next day but for your overall long-term health.
In addition to going through your days in an irritable mood sleeping less than the required amount may cause weight gain, high blood pressure, weakened immune system, and heart diseases just to name a few.
BUT at the same time oversleeping has the same affect.
When you sleep more than 9 hrs you experience decreased energy and tiredness throughout the day.
Key is to get 7-8 hrs of sleep daily for optimal brain performance.
don’t cheat yourself!
6. Limit screen time
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? How about last thing you do before going to bed?
let me guess..go on your phone!
This habit has been conditioned into our mind as a “break” from life. We see it as a way to forget about ALL the things happening around us by distracting ourselves with other peoples lives.
It is also seen as an easy task that does not require much energy from us- like ZERO!
It’s all good in the moment until we realize what it is actually doing to our life.
Truth is it that by checking your phone frequently it increases anxiety and stress and decreases critical thinking and mindfulness.
Start becoming aware of how much time you actually spend on your phone and how much more you can be doing with your time to get you one step closer to the life you desire. @ me lol
7. Set Intentions
What did you do today?
Let me guess…the same thing you do every day
Our brain is programmed to be on autopilot which takes all our daily habits and stores them in your subconscious to be completed automatically.
I mean I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want to have to think about every single decision we have to make on a daily- we would be DRAINED!
On the contrary if we rely solely on our subconscious we will not step out of our comfort zone to take the action we need to take to reach our goals… this is why we have to set intentions!
Intentions is like setting a roadmap to guide us on the steps along the way and stay focused on our goals along the way.
It helps us take control of our lives and in holding us accountable.

In conclusion, don’t let the days slip away, start building those healthy habits to better yourself and your life.
